Sam Phillips is a decorated music producer who has inspired me to follow my passion within the music industry. At the start of my career in music I came across Sam Phillips while reading up on old musicians I admired. From the start, I wanted to know everything about the man who discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and the rest of the Million Dollar Quartet. Phillips began his own record company, Sun Records, in Memphis and discovered a new genre of music, Rock and Roll. He took this and ran with it and ended up moving his studio to Nashville in order to be more in the center of the music scene and easily accessible.
Sun Records became the most iconic recording company to this day and left a legacy forever remembered within the music industry. Leaving an impact of this magnitude in the music industry is an incredible feat that I one day hope to accomplish. Seeing someone like Sam Phillips start from working at a radio station to one of the most monumental people in the music industry is incredibly inspiring. Some of the most famous musicians developed from Sun Records giving the recording company a sense of prestige.
My goal is to be Sam Phillips. I want to leave an impact on the music industry the way he did. Music production is my passion and it is something I want to use to aid the music industry and help guide it into something different. Sam Phillips is the prime example of a someone who has helped guide the industry into something different. My hope is to eventually begin my own recording company wth Sam Phillips as my role model. He has shown me what a true music producer is and what one can do. Sam Phillips inspired me pursue music production and helped me realize that there is many ways to be involved in the music industry.
